making bad decisions

So with the roundup starting tomorrow, I've got the bug to build something again already. My friend Freeland just picked up a 26 t-bucket and decided that with all his other projects, he just doesn't have time for another. Anyway, I've decided to buy said 26 with a bunch of goodies included for what i feel is a pretty good deal. Body has some rust but its nothing a bit of welding and sanding wont fix. I've seen worse for sure. I think I'm going to try and build something pretty traditional, this will be the first car I've built that I have no idea what im doing and literally have to make a step by step plan for what I want to do with it. It will for sure test my artistic skills and patience but I luckily know a lot of people in Austin that know a lot more about this shit than I do...

this one is a few years earlier but kind of the idea, most def. different colors.

Star Wars meets Japanese relief

So I'm a big Star Wars nerd and a big fan/supporter of not only the hot rod/motorcycle scene in Japan but the culture as a whole. I'm also an artist and fan of art, the wife and I have been trying to collect signed and numbered prints over the last couple years and I found a mash up of 2 of my favorite things. All the profit goes to the relief fund for Japan, it wasn't much but I hope it will help someone out anyway. If interested in buying these prints heres the ebay page. http://cgi.ebay.com/Ninja-Star-Wars-Prints-100-donated-Japan-/190516158369?pt=Art_Prints&hash=item2c5ba5dfa1 also, here is the blog where I found the prints, alot of cool shit to look at if youre into art. spokeblog.com

sold the truck

after a coming up with a pile of ideas and a list of things to finish, i sold the truck to an older gent in round rock. cool old guy, told me about his chopper days, hot rodding vw's in the 70s and selling them and all the old cars he owned. i think he will take good care of the ol' girl. ive been talking to my friend jason who is the owner of thomas speed shop about helping me build another car someday. hes got a 41 chevy body he isnt using so i may see if i can get my dirty ass hands on that. ive been diggin this picture a lot, dont know where i got it but it makes me feel better about selling the truck.

dreams

Got to talkin to my friend Rusty Chrome today @ a Meatheads gathering about my truck. Said I was gonna have to con one of them into helping me lower my truck before the Roundup and he said his shop doesn't get enough use so I should bring it by sometime soon. So that got me thinkin about how my truck would actually look low, I asked some friends if they wouldn't mind photochoppin some pix i have of the truck and this is what I got back in about 10 minutes. It's a lot lower than I could go without bags but I can dream right? I'm gonna guess I'll get about 4 to 5 inches of drop out of it doing it the old skool way but I'm happy with that idea.

Addiction

I haven't been working on American cars for very long. I was raised on pre-73 VW's, started when I was 13 or 14 maybe. Always think about one of the first cars that caught my eye as to what cool American steel was and I thought it was a 59 Cadillac Coupe De Ville. Although, it is one of my all time favorite cars, it isn't what started it all. Even though all I did for a long time was VW's an American car did catch my eye early one, i just couldn't afford it... It was a 1951 Plymouth Deluxe that I found on the front row of a junk yard when i was 16. Black, all faded out, good interior still but there was chrome to bajesus and back in great shape. I fell in love with that car and still to this day wish I would have picked it up. Guy only wanted 1500 bux for it and it ran... but for a 16 year old, that might as well be a million dollars when ur working like 3 hours a day during the school year. sorry for the long dragging ass story but it was on my mind... still.
